I. A thing due or owing; a debt. Debitum et contractus sunt nnllins loci: debt and contract are of [belong to] no place; have no particular locality. Debitum In prassenti, solvendum in future: a debt due at present, to be paid in future; applied to obligations which are absolute or perfect when contracted, though not payable before a certain future day, as bonds and notes. In Scots law. Debitum fundi: a debt of the ground; a debt which is a charge upon real estate.
