I. fr. and eng. Not clerical or ecclesiastical. Lay corporation: a corporation composed of laymen, or established for temporal purposes. Lay days: days allowed in charter-parties for loading and imloading. In English laxo. Lay fee: a fee held of a lay lord, or by lay tenure j the ordinary feudal tenure. Lay impropriator: a lay person holding a spiritual appropriation.
