In a direct line; from parent to child. Lineal consanguinity: that kind of consanguinity which subsists between persons, of whom one is descended in a direct line from the other. Lineal descent: the descent of one person from another in the right or direct line; the descent of an estate, or the right to it, in the direct line of persons. Lineal warranty: a warranty of land made by a person from or through whom the title was derived, or might by possibility have been derived by the heir.
