gr.-l. The sole power, right or privilege of sale; monopoly; a monopoly. Monopolium dicitur, cum unus solus aliquod genus mercaturse uuiversum emit, pretium ad suum libitum statueus: it is called monopoly, when one single person buys up the whole of a commodity, fixing on it a price at his pleasure.
