A taking beforehand; the taking of a fact to be so, before it certainly appears; an inference as to a fact in question drawn from facts known or admitted. Presumption of fact: an inference of one fact from another, or one or more facts not known from one or more facts known. Presumption of law: an inference or intendment made by law or the court from facts appearing or proved in a particular case.
