In old English law

King; a Ising; the king. Rex debet esse sub lege, quia lex facit regem: the king ought to be' under the law, because the law makes the king. Rex noil potest peccare: the king cannot do wrong; the king can do no wrong. Rex non debet esse sub hoiuine, sed sub l)eo et lege: the king ought not to be subject to men, but to God and the law. Rex nunqnam moritnr: the king never dies.
