Royalty

A sum paid by the user of a patent for the purposes of manufacture,— commonly so much for each article; a sum paid by a publisher to an author upon sale of the work, proportioned to the extent of the sale, — commonly so much for each copy or volume; the sum due to the lessor of a mine.
