OU SUR une fausse cause, ou sur cause lllicite, ne peut avoir aucun effet. An obligation without consideration, or upon a false consideration (which fails), or upon unlawful consideration, cannot have any effect. Code, 3. 3. 4; Chit. Cont. (10th Am. Ed.) 25, note.
