A French measure of capacity. It is of the size of a decimetre, or one-tenth part of a cubic metre. It is equal to 61.028 cubic inches. See "Measure." LITTORAL (litus). Belonging to shore; as, of sea and great lakes. Webster. Corresponding to riparian proprietors on a stream or small pond are littoral proprietors on a sea or lake. Although used coextensively with "riparian," 7 Cush. (Mass.) 94, its employment is preferred to "riparian," in respect to the shores of the sea, and also, according to important authorities, as including "riparian." Gould Waters, § 148; 2 Ex.
