1, n. Any article used in building or repairing houses, ships, etc' More often, materials. Material-man. One who has furnished any merchandise or stuff for the erection or repair of a building, vessel, or other structure. See Case, Mixed; Labor, 1; Lien, Mechanic's. 2, adj.
