One of the United States of America. It was admitted Into the Union, Oct. 31, 1864. Its boundaries were defined by an enabling act, approved March 21, 1864, as amended by the act of May 5, 1866. The constitution was amended in 1912, by providing that women shall be eligible to certain public offices and it also provides for the recall of public officers.
