By proxy; by letter of attorney. Used in connection with the signature of an agent or attorney in fact. It is notice that the agent has but a limited authority to sign. Byles, Bills, 33. Commonly abbreviated "per proc." The term is little used in the United States, though it has been adopted by the negotiable instrument laws. Neg. Inst. Law, § 40.

B. 689. The phrase is commonly abbreviated to "per proc.," or "p. p.," and is more used in the civll law and in England than in American law.
