common law, a denomination of money of Great Britain. To be computed in the ad valorem duty upon goods, &c. at the rate of four dollars and fortyfour cents. Act of March 2, 1799, s. 61, 1 Story’s L. U. S. 626. Vide Foreign coins. The pound sterling of Ireland is to be computed at four dollars and ten cents. Ib. other officer, for commissions on the inoncy made by virtue of an execution. This allowance varies in different states, and to ditlerent oflicers.
