Radius

A straight line drawn from the centre of a circle to any point of the circumference. Its length is half the diameter of that circle, or is the space between the centre and the circumference. State v. Berard, 40 La. Ann. 174, 3 South. 403. An act prohibiting private markets within a radius of six squares of any public market was held to mean six squares measured on city streets; State v. Barthe, 41 La. Ann. 46, 6 South. 531. A contract not to practise dentistry within a radius of ten miles was held a valid contract not to practise within ten miles of the centre point of the village; Cook v. Johnson, 47 Conn. 175, 36 Am. Rep. 64.
