Ranged

DRAWN AND QUARTERED. A method of e.xecuting traitors in England, said to have been introduced in 1241. The traitor was carried on a sled, or hurdle to the gallows (formerly dragged there tied to the tail of a horse); hanged till half dead and then cut down; his entrails cut out and burnt; his head cut off and 'his body to be divided into quarters, which, with his head, were hung in some public place.
