42 U.S.C. § 17282 — in this section (4 versions over time)

The term “renewable energy project” means a project—

(A) for the commercial generation of electricity; and

(B) that generates electricity from—

(i) solar, wind, or geothermal energy or ocean energy;

(ii) biomass (as defined in section 15852(b) of this title);

(iii) landfill gas; or

(iv) Alaska small hydroelectric power.

43 U.S.C. § 3007 — in this section

The term “renewable energy project” means a project located on public land that uses wind or solar energy to generate energy.

43 U.S.C. § 3008 — in this section

The term “renewable energy project” means a system described in section 2801.9(a)(4) of title 43, Code of Federal Regulations (as in effect on July 4, 2025), located on covered land that uses wind or solar energy to generate energy.
