An heraldic term for "blood-color," called, in the arms of princes, "dragon's tell," and, in those of lords, "sardonyx." It is la tincture of very infrequent occurrence, and not recognised by some writers. In engraving, it is denoted by numerous llnes in saltire. Wharton.
