Same as Serjeant. Sergeant-at-arms. An officer of a legislature appointed to enforce its rules and orders of procedure. Serial association. A building and loan association whose stock is divided into series maturing by series at different times. See 101 Ga. 814, 30 S. E. 911.

In military law. A noncommissioned officer, of whom there are several in each company of infantry, troop of cavalry, etc. The term is also used in the organization of a municipal police force.
