Sine die

Without day; without assigning a day for a further meeting or hearing. Hence, a final adjournment; final dismissal of a cause. Quod eat sine die, that he go without day ; the old form of a judgment for the defendant, i.e., a judgment discharging the defendant from any further appearance in court.

Without day. Sometimes a case is adjourned sine die, that is, the defendant is finally discharged, there being no day to which the cause is continued. When the court or other body rise at the end of a session or term they adjourn sine die.
