The name of an instrument in writing, given by a broker to a buyer of merchandise, in •which it is stated that the goods therein mentioned have been sold to him; or one given to the buyer by a broker employed to sell goods, in his own name, as agent of both seller and buyer, whereby they are respectively bound. 167 111. 372. 1 Bell, Comm.
