In the civil law. Payment; the satisfaction or discharge of an obligation in any mode. Solutio indebiti: payment of what is not due; payment by mistake, of money not due; a contract by which the person so paid was bound to make restitution to the person paying. Solutio pretii emptionis loco habetur: the payment of the price [of a thing] is held to be in place of a purchase [operates as a purchase].
