I. A clause, a sentence. Clausula generalis non refertur ad ezpressa: a general clause does not (refer to) cover things (expressed) specially mentioned. Clausula quae abrogationem excludit ab initio non valet: a clause forbidding (abrogation) repeal is void from the beginning. Clausulae inconsuetae semper inducunt suspicionem: unusual clauses always arouse suspicion.
