In Scotch law, a bond with a penalty. Double costs: the ordinary single costs of a suit, and one half that amount in addition. Double damages: twice the actual damages, as assessed by the jury. Double fine: a _fifie sur done grant et render. Double plea: a plea which sets up more than one defence. Double voucher: n voucher over; v. Recovery. Double Tvaste: where a tenant suffers a house to fall out of repair and then cuts timber on the estate' to repair it.
