Base; mean; immoral; infamous; unlawful. Turpis causa: a base consideration. Turpis est pars quae non convenit [congruit] cum suo toto: the part which does not agree with its whole is of mean account [entitled to small or no consideration], v. Ex turpi, etc.
In the civil law. Turpis arbiter: a bribed or corrupted judge. Turpis persona: an infamous person.
