Towns Improvement

The English Towns Improvement Clauses Act of 1847 was passed to consolidate in one act certain provisions usually contained in acts for paving, draining, cleansing, lighting, and improving towns. Local acts appointing commissioners for the improvement of towns generally incorporate the provisions of this act, but such acts are now rarely passed as the provisions of the general health acts', the local government acts, the sanitary acts, and the public health acts have practically superseded them.
