Petroleum Defined.—In this section, the term “petroleum” means natural or synthetic crude, blends of natural or synthetic crude, and products refined or derived from natural or synthetic crude or from such blends.

The term “petroleum” means crude oil and products derived from crude oil, other than—
(A) synthetic gas derived from crude oil;
(B) liquid petroleum gas;
(C) liquid, solid, or gaseous waste byproducts of refinery operations which are commercially unmarketable, either by reason of quality or quantity, as determined under rules prescribed by the Secretary; or
(D) petroleum coke or waste gases from industrial operations.

The term “petroleum” means petroleum, including crude oil or any fraction thereof which is liquid at standard conditions of temperature and pressure (60 degrees Fahrenheit and 14.7 pounds per square inch absolute).
