renewable energy system

Defined in 5 places across 3 titles of the United States Code.

For purposes of this section, the term “renewable energy system” has the meaning given that term in section 6865(c)(6)(A) of this title.

Subject to subparagraph (B), the term “renewable energy system” means a system that—

(i) produces usable energy from a renewable energy source; and

(ii) may include distribution components necessary to move energy produced by such system to the initial point of sale.

Subject to subparagraph (C), the term "renewable energy system" means a system that produces usable energy from a renewable energy source.

The term "renewable energy system" includes—

(i) distribution components necessary to move energy produced by a system described in subparagraph (A) to the initial point of sale; and

(ii) other components and ancillary infrastructure of a system described in subparagraph (A), such as a storage system.

the term "renewable energy system" means a system of energy derived from—

(aa) a wind, solar, biomass (including biodiesel), or geothermal source; or

(bb) hydrogen derived from biomass or water using an energy source described in item (aa).

(ii) hydrogen derived from biomass or water using an energy source described in clause (i).

the term “renewable energy system” means a system which—

(i) when installed in connection with a dwelling, transmits or uses—

(I) solar energy, energy derived from the geothermal deposits, energy derived from biomass, or any other form of renewable energy which the Secretary specifies by regulations, for the purpose of heating or cooling such dwelling or providing hot water or electricity for use within such dwelling; or

(II) wind energy for nonbusiness residential purposes;

(ii) meets the performance and quality standards (if any) which have been prescribed by the Secretary by regulations;

(iii) in the case of a combustion rated system, has a thermal efficiency rating of at least 75 percent; and

(iv) in the case of a solar system, has a thermal efficiency rating of at least 15 percent; and
