reporting period

Defined in 6 places across 6 titles of the United States Code.

For purposes of this paragraph, the term “reporting period” means the 6-month period for which a report under this paragraph is made, except that the first reporting period shall be the period beginning on August 9, 1989, and ending on December 12, 1991. Each successive reporting period shall begin upon the conclusion of the preceding reporting period.

For years after 2009, the Secretary may revise the reporting period under clause (i) if the Secretary determines such revision is appropriate, produces valid results on measures reported, and is consistent with the goals of maximizing scientific validity and reducing administrative burden. If the Secretary revises such period pursuant to the preceding sentence, the term “reporting period” shall mean such revised period.

In this section, the term “reporting period” means, in the case of the initial report, the period since May 27, 2003, and, in the case of any subsequent report, the period since the date of submission of the most recent report.
