residential building

Defined in 4 places across 2 titles of the United States Code.

As used in this part, the term “residential building” means any building used as a residence which is not a new building to which final standards under sections 6833(a) and 6834 1 of this title apply and which has a system for heating, cooling, or both.

The term “residential building” means a structure or portion of a structure which provides facilities or shelter for human residency, except that such term does not include any multifamily residential structure of more than three stories above grade.
