LA Law Library

LA Law Library serves as the second largest public law library in the United States, surpassed only by the Law Library of Congress. The institution maintains approximately 1 million print volumes and equivalents, encompassing materials found in their databases, journals, and gazettes.
The facility is currently situated at 301 W 1st St in downtown Los Angeles. It was started in 1891 by local attorneys, and for its first 60 years it was located in the courthouse on Hill Street.

Services for prison inmates
Patrons served: Serves prisoners in California correctional institutions only through prison libraries under procedures established by the Dept. of Corrections. Under the procedures prison libraries should use the Sacramento County Law Library to obtain materials. Services provided: Interlibrary loan and photocopies under arrangement above. Costs and fees: None (but provided only under arrangement described above).
