(a) A person commits the crime of promoting contraband in the first degree if the person violates AS 11.56.380 and the contraband is (1) a deadly weapon or a defensive weapon;
(2) an article that is intended by the defendant to be used as a means of facilitating an escape; or
(3) a controlled substance.
(b) Promoting contraband in the first degree is a class C felony.
