Definitions

Known as the Alaska Energy Authority Act

The act spans §§ 44.83.010 to 44.83.995 (53 sections).

In AS 44.83.700 — 44.83.720, (1) “backbone transmission system” means the transmission assets in the Railbelt that facilitate the transmission of electrical power under the standards established by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission;

(2) “commission” means the Regulatory Commission of Alaska;

(3) “Railbelt” means the geographic region from the Kenai Peninsula to Interior Alaska that is connected to a common electric transmission backbone;

(4) “Railbelt utility” means a public electric utility certificated to operate in the Railbelt that operates backbone transmission system assets;

(5) “transmission organization” means the Railbelt Transmission Organization established by AS 44.83.700.
