Ala. Code § 45-55-241.08

If the office of tax assessor or tax collector should become vacant between the expiration of the term of office of either the tax assessor or tax collector and before the time of ratification of this part by the electors of Pike County, this part shall become effective immediately and the election shall be called within 45 days of the vacancy.
