Ark. Code Ann. § 12-12-304

Director of the State Crime Laboratory

(1) The State Crime Laboratory shall be headed by a director who shall be appointed by the Governor and who shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

(2) The director shall report to the Secretary of the Department of Public Safety.

(3) The director may delegate specific duties to competent and qualified associates, assistants, and deputies who may act for the director within the scope of the authority granted him or her, subject, however, to such rules as may be prescribed by the State Crime Laboratory Board.

(4) The board shall prescribe the duties, responsibilities, compensation, and qualifications for the director.
