Notification in cases of reports of severe maltreatment

Known as the Child Maltreatment Act

(1) The Department of Human Services and the Department of Arkansas State Police shall immediately notify local law enforcement of all reports of severe maltreatment.

(2) Notification of a report of child maltreatment shall be provided within five (5) business days to the prosecuting attorney on an allegation of severe maltreatment.

(3) The prosecuting attorney may provide written notice to the Department of Human Services and the Department of Arkansas State Police that the Department of Human Services and the Department of Arkansas State Police do not need to provide notification of the initial child maltreatment report to the prosecuting attorney's office.

(4) Upon receiving the notification, the Department of Human Services and the Department of Arkansas State Police shall not be required to provide notification of the initial child maltreatment report to the prosecuting attorney's office.
