Disaster relief pay

Known as the Arkansas Emergency Services Act

(1) The Division of Emergency Management is authorized to provide special compensation to certain employees for each full pay period of eighty (80) hours worked in a job which requires the provision of on-site emergency disaster relief services in cases of wartime, human-made, or natural disasters.

(2) This disaster relief pay covers employees who may be exposed to hazardous or disastrous conditions during the performance of their job duties.

(3) The rate of pay will be five and one-half percent (5.5%) above the regular authorized pay or rate of pay.

(4) Payment will be controlled through personnel actions by the Director of the Division of Emergency Management.

(5) The rate of pay for individuals who work less than a full pay period of eighty (80) hours or transfer to other work areas not defined in this section, or both, will not receive any enhanced rate of pay for that or subsequent pay periods.

(6) A monthly report shall be made to the Legislative Council describing all payments made to employees under the provisions of this section.
