Ark. Code Ann. § 13-8-102

Definitions

As used in this subchapter:

(1) “Agency” means the Arkansas Arts Council established in this subchapter. The agency shall include the advisory council and the position of executive director as established in this subchapter;

(2) “Arts” includes, but is not limited to: Instrumental and vocal music;

(3) Dance;

(4) Drama;

(5) Painting;

(6) Sculpture;

(7) Creative writing;

(8) Architectural and allied fields;

(9) Graphics;

(10) Folk art;

(11) Porcelain art;

(12) China painting;

(13) Craft art;

(14) Industrial design;

(15) Costume and fashion design;

(16) Motion pictures;

(17) Television;

(18) Radio;

(19) Tape and sound recordings; and

(20) The arts related to the presentation, performance, execution, and exhibition of such major art forms;

(21) “Group” includes any state or other public agency and any nonprofit society, institution, organization, association, museum, or establishment in Arkansas, whether or not incorporated;

(22) “Office” means the Arkansas Arts Council established in this subchapter. The office shall include the advisory council and the position of executive director as established in this subchapter;

(23) “Production” means: A play, with or without music;

(24) A ballet;

(25) A dance or choral performance;

(26) A concert;

(27) A recital;

(28) An opera;

(29) An exhibition;

(30) A reading;

(31) A motion picture;

(32) Television;

(33) Radio;

(34) A tape or sound recording; and

(35) Any other activity involving the execution or rendition of the arts and meeting any standards approved by the agency; and

(36) “Project” means: A program organized to carry out the purposes of this subchapter, including a program: To foster artistic creativity;

(37) To commission works of art;

(38) To create opportunities for individuals to develop artistic talents when carried on as a part of a program otherwise included in this definition; and

(39) To develop and enhance public knowledge and understanding of the arts and humanities; and

(40) “Project” also includes, when appropriate: The rental, purchase, renovation, or construction of a facility;

(41) The purchase or rental of land; and

(42) The acquisition of equipment, supplies, materials, and other personal property.
