Targeted incentive and instruction program for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Acts 2017, No. 1101, § 1.

(1) To the extent possible, the Department of Human Services shall: Support and participate in viable programs such as the Double Up Food Bucks Incentive Program along with Healthy Active Arkansas partners that offer incentives for healthy food purchases by recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits; and

(2) Authorize targeted nutrition education programming at locations operated by Healthy Active Arkansas partners that are authorized in the targeted nutrition education programming plan of operations.

(3) To increase the success of the targeted nutrition education program, the department shall authorize nutrition education programs that are made available through private grants to be offered in targeted areas.

(4) The department may authorize: The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance in cooperation with the Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention as part of the Governor's Healthy Active Arkansas framework to offer targeted nutrition education programs; and

(5) Other entities providing private funds in cooperation with the department and the Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention as part of the Healthy Active Arkansas framework to offer targeted nutrition education programs.
