Ark. Code Ann. § 27-16-813

Medical exemption designation for seat belt use

Known as the Motor Vehicle Driver's License Act

The act spans §§ 27–27 (100 sections).

Acts 2011, No. 601, § 1.

(1) A person may apply to the Office of Driver Services to obtain a medical exemption designation for seat belt use on a driver's license or identification card issued under this subchapter by providing: Documentation from a physician as provided under § 27-37-702(b)(2); and

(2) Payment of the fee for the driver's license or identification card authorized under this chapter.

(3) If the person seeks a duplicate or substitute driver's license with the medical exemption designation and his or her driver's license has not expired, the fee shall be as provided under § 27-16-806.

(4) The office may: Determine the appropriate placement of the medical exemption designation on a driver's license or identification card authorized under this section; and

(5) Promulgate the necessary rules for the administration of this section.

(6) This section does not require a person who has a medical condition that contraindicates the use of a seat belt under § 27-37-702(b)(2) to obtain a driver's license or identification card under this section with a medical exemption designation.
