Retired members of armed forces

Known as the Special License Plate Act

The act spans §§ 27–27 (148 sections).

(1) The Department of Finance and Administration shall continue the special license plate for retired members of the armed forces that existed before the July 31, 2009.

(2) The department shall design the special license plates issued under this section.

(3) In lieu of the legend “The Natural State” or any succeeding legend, there shall be placed across the bottom of the license plate a permanent decal bearing the words “U.S. Armed Forces Retired”.

(4) A retired member of the armed forces may apply for and annually renew a special license plate issued under this section as provided under § 27-24-206 (a) and (b).

(5) Upon the initial application of a special license plate issued under this section, a retired member of the armed forces shall provide adequate proof to the department that he or she is a retired member of the armed forces.

(6) The registration of a special license plate under this section may continue from year to year as long as it is renewed each year within the time and in the manner required by law.

(7) The Office of Motor Vehicle shall redesign and simplify the special license plates issued under this section to bring them into conformity with § 27-24-209.
