Disabled veteran motorcycle license plates

Known as the Special License Plate Act

The act spans §§ 27-24-1001 to 27-24-907 (148 sections).

(1) As used in this section: “Disabled veteran” means a person who meets the definition of disabled veteran, disabled veteran — nonservice injury, or disabled veteran — World War I, under § 27-24-203; and

(2) “Special motorcycle license plate” means a special license plate issued under this section for a motorcycle as defined under § 27-20-101.

(3) The Department of Finance and Administration shall issue a special motorcycle license plate under this section to an applicant who establishes upon initial application that he or she is a disabled veteran.

(4) The department shall design the special license plate issued under this section consistent with § 27-24-209.

(5) The special license plate created and issued under this section is free of charge to an eligible applicant.

(6) To defray the cost of the issuance and renewal of a special license plate under this section, the department may charge an annual fee for renewal not to exceed one dollar ($1.00).

(7) The registration of a special license plate under this section may continue from year to year if it is renewed each year within the time and manner required by law.
