School district floor plan on file with emergency management coordinator — Definition

Acts 2013, No. 1159, § 1; 2019, No. 910, § 1083.

(1) As used in this section, “floor plan” means a document containing: A schematic drawing of facilities and property used by each public school in the school district, including the configuration of rooms, spaces, and other physical features of buildings;

(2) The location or locations where children enrolled in each public school in the school district spend time regularly;

(3) The escape routes approved by the local fire department for each public school in the school district;

(4) The average daily attendance of children enrolled in each public school in the school district; and

(5) The contact information for at least two (2) emergency contacts for each public school in the school district.

(6) An aerial view of each public school in the school district and property used by each public school in the school district shall be included with the floor plan if available.

(7) A school district may file a copy of the school district's floor plan with the emergency management coordinator for the local office of emergency management or the interjurisdictional office of emergency management that serves the area where the school district is located.

(8) The emergency management coordinator shall ensure that the school district's floor plan submitted under subsection (b) of this section is available at the 911 public safety communications center and the local office of emergency management or the interjurisdictional office of emergency management that serves the area where the school district is located.

(9) The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education may adopt rules to implement this section.
