Ark. Code Ann. § 8-8-101

Purpose

Acts 1971, No. 304, § 1; A.S.A. 1947, § 82-1974.

(1) The General Assembly recognizes that: The purity and life-giving qualities of our environment are of primary concern to the people of Arkansas and to all Americans;

(2) The ultimate responsibility for the quality of the Arkansas environment rests upon the state government; and

(3) Ecological systems and environmental problems cross state boundaries.

(4) Therefore, the General Assembly recognizes that the discharge of this responsibility can be enhanced by acting in concert and cooperation with our sister states and with the federal government, insofar as such cooperative governmental efforts are consistent with the laws of the State of Arkansas. For these reasons, the Interstate Environmental Compact is approved.
