A.R.S. § 28-459

Voluntary notation; customer records; law enforcement disclosure; definitions

A. A person with a driver license or nonoperating identification license issued by the department may request that the department note in the department’s customer record that the person may need a communication accommodation.

B. The owner of a vehicle registered in this state may request that the department note in the department’s vehicle record that there may be an occupant of the vehicle that may need a communication accommodation.

C. The request shall be made in a method determined by the department.

D. The department shall establish procedures to make the notations available only to law enforcement agencies.

E. For the purposes of this section:

1. "Communication accommodation" means that a person has a disability that can impair communication and the person may require an accommodation.

2. "Disability that can impair communication" means a condition that can impair a person's ability to receive, send, process or comprehend concepts of verbal or nonverbal communication or graphic symbols.
