School Housing Aid for Compensatory Education Purposes

Known as the State School Building Aid Law

Grants may be made pursuant to this article to districts which have been determined to be eligible for an apportionment under Article 5 (commencing with Section 54480) of Chapter 4 of Part 29, or districts maintaining schools for kindergarten, or any of grades 1 to 6, inclusive, in areas designated pursuant to Section 54482 which have reduced the number of pupils to full-time equivalent classroom teachers in kindergarten and any of grades 1 to 6, inclusive, in those schools to a ratio of 25 to 1, or better. The grants shall be made for the purposes, and subject to the conditions, following:

For expenditure by the district in areas designated pursuant to Section 54482 for any of the following:

(a) Acquisition, by purchase or lease, and the installation and equipping of portable classrooms for classroom instructional purposes.

(b) Acquisition of land for schoolsites.

(c) Construction and equipping of permanent school buildings and facilities.

(d) Reconstruction, renovation or remodeling of existing school buildings and facilities.

(e) Any combination of the above.
