Cal. Water Code § 34167

Known as the California Water District Law

The petition shall be accompanied by an undertaking, to be approved by the board, in a sum not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000), conditioned that the sureties will pay all of the costs in connection with the formation in case the formation is not effected. The board may require an additional undertaking if in its judgment the costs in connection with the formation will exceed one-half of the amount of the undertaking submitted.
