C.R.S. § 22-2-102

As used in this part 1, unless the context otherwise requires: (1) “Commissioner of education” or “commissioner” means the office of the commissioner of education created and existing pursuant to section 1 of article IX of the state constitution. (2) “Department of education” or “department” means the department of education created and existing pursuant to section 24-1-115 , C.R.S. (3) “Nonpublic school” means a school organized and maintained by a recognized religious or independent association performing an academic function. (4) “Public school” means a school maintained and operated by a school district. (4.5) “Pupil enrollment count day” has the same meaning as set forth in section 22-54-103 (10.5). (5) “State board of education” or “state board” means the state board of education created and existing pursuant to section 1 of article IX of the state constitution.
