As used in this part 2, unless the context otherwise requires: (1) “Contracting district” means an irrigation district which has entered into a salinity control contract. (2) “Irrigation district” means an irrigation district formed pursuant to the provisions of article 41 or 42 of this title. (3) “Salinity control contract” means a contract made between an irrigation district and the United States pursuant to the “Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act”, 43 U.S.C. sec. 1571 et seq., as amended, for the construction, improvement, operation, and maintenance of lateral ditches and pipelines or for any combination of such purposes. (4) “Salinity control lateral” means a lateral ditch or pipeline constructed or improved pursuant to a salinity control contract.
