(1) Reports of accidents, fires, explosions, injuries, damage to property, or loss of life at installations using liquefied petroleum gas shall be reported to the director of the division of oil and public safety within twenty-four hours after their occurrence. (2) Subsection (1) of this section includes accidents resulting from the improper use of equipment, appliances, and appurtenances to liquefied petroleum gas systems. The director of the division of oil and public safety may, at his or her discretion, investigate such occurrences and shall maintain a written record of his or her findings, which shall be available to public examination.
