The Governor of this state may appoint and commission a fit and proper person to hold office during the pleasure of the Governor, as private secretary of the Governor, and as clerk for the executive department, and who shall attend daily, during office hours, at the capitol, and perform such duties in the office of the Governor as she or he may be directed by the Governor to perform.
